Sundays for 5 weeks, beginning February 13
Please join us in the Undercroft (9:15 – 10:15 a.m.) for an adult forum series on the Summary of the Law taught to us by Jesus. As He said, we are
commanded to love God with all our heart, all our soul, and all our mind and to love our neighbors as ourselves. But how do we accomplish this?
What does this sort of love look like? As we explore these issues together we hope to deepen our understanding of our relationship with God and
perhaps find new ways to honor it. The first session, on February 13, will be intergenerational and have content suitable for children.
Wednesday nights for 5 weeks, beginning February 16
Please join us in the Undercroft for homemade soup and fresh bread at 6:30 before joining one of the following classes:
-
Inquirer's Class, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.:
-
This class prepares anyone who seeks to be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church, or simply desires to
reaffirm their baptismal covenant. The focus of the course will be what it means to live a Christian life and express our faith through the
Episcopal Church. Janice will use The Anglican Vision by James E. Griffiss. This book is the first in the Church's new Teaching series and is
available at the Cathedral bookstore. Please obtain a copy of the book and read the first two chapters before the first day of class.
-
The Screwtape Letters, 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.:
-
Parishioners Wynett Isley, Cheryl Peterson, and Patricia Scott-Clayton will share facilitation of a study of
C. S. Lewis’s The Screwtape Letters, a collection of wickedly funny and imaginative correspondence between two devils, Screwtape and his nephew,
Wormwood. Through the lens of one man's journey of faith we are made privy to their efforts to lead humanity astray. The letters delve into issues
of good and evil, temptation, repentance, and grace. They promise to give new meaning to our baptismal covenant to persevere in resisting evil.
The cost of the book is $10 and it is available at most area bookstores. Please contact the church office if you are interested in participating
or if you would like a book to be ordered for you (books will be ordered on February 4). Please read the Introduction and Letters 1-4 prior to the
first class.
At 8:30 p.m., both classes will gather in the chapel for an Order of Compline.
