April 14 - "I Have Seen the Lord": Art and Contemplation in Moscow
Onion-shaped cathedral domes and Byzantine icons have long been classic symbols of Russia, even during the religious suppression
of the long Soviet era. Today, just over a decade since the fall of communism, as Russia struggles to define itself amidst competing
economic, political and cultural forces, the sacred meaning of centuries-old art and architecture is being reclaimed in a quiet yet
powerful reaffirmation of faith. Parishioners Roger Brown and Lori Perine, who visited some of Moscow's sacred spaces and collections
in February, will share their experience with recognizing the image of God in the emergence of a New Russia.
April 21 - Reflecting the Face of God in Our Thoughts
Rev. Dr. Allison St. Louis, Clinical Psychologist and former Grace Seminarian, discusses different ways that we have been wounded
by others' messages to us, and then continue to reinforce the message, hence rewounding ourselves with negative self talk. For
instance, the times when we berate ourselves with "I'm so fat" or "I'm so stupid" or similar messages.
April 28 - The Face of God in Addictions
Addictions: money, power, worry, alcohol, drugs, food, work; anything that controls you. What do they all have in common? What
pain do they cause in your life and the lives of those around you? How do they come between you and God? What can you do for
yourself or for those in your life who are ensnared by an addiction? What are 12-step programs really like?
May - 2002
May 5 - The Face of God as Experienced in Triumph
The Rev. Albert Scariato, M.D.
During the 50 days of Easter, we revel in the life-giving force that God made known in raising Christ from the dead. How does
the risen Christ look to us? Where and how is that face found in our lives? Do we really see it? If not, let's explore how to
make resurrection the starting point of our existence.
