Seeing the Face of God through a Different Set of Eyes
Adult Forum
Sundays, 9 - 10 a.m. in the Parish Hall
September 16: The Rev. Dr. Albert Scariato, a favorite presenter at Grace, begins our
program year with The Many Faces of God in the Bible. Please bring your Bible.
September 23 - October 14: Beth Mollard, our seminarian in her last year of study,
presents a four-week series on The Face of God as Seen in the Prophets.
October 21 & 28: Dr. Melvin Jenkins, a physician, researcher, professor,
and Christian, addresses what the Bible and science says regarding our sexuality.
November 4: Maude Clarke, a therapist and the Executive Director of the Center
on Domestic Abuse, speaks on the face of God in those associated with domestic abuse.
November 11: Waafas Ofosu-Amaah, a lawyer who works for the World Bank, addresses
gender issues as impacted by poverty throughout the world.
November 18 & 25: Duane Bowers, of the William Wendt Center for Loss and Healing,
speaks on the The Face of God in the Grieving and Dying.
December 2: No forum. (Intergenerational activity: Advent wreath making in the
Undercroft)
December 9: A psychologist to speak on the stress felt by so many, especially
during the Holidays.
December 16: A sharing of unique Advent and Christmas preparations by parishioners
from different cultural backgrounds.
December 23: No forum.
December 30: Coffee and Christmas goodie extravaganza! People of different
cultures are invited to share their special holiday treats--we'll supply some fine
coffee and tea!
Note: There is some cost involved in the retreats; however, scholarship money is
available!
Prayer Group
(Preexisting and ongoing)
Thursdays, 7 - 8 p.m., in Grace House
Prayer practiced in small groups can renew one's life! This fall we will practice different
prayer styles, concluding with some silence. All are welcome--be a blessing and join us!
Advent Storytelling
The Face of God in Mothers of the Bible
Wednesdays, 7 - 8:30 p.m., December 5, 12 & 19, in Grace House
Beginning with Jochebed (mother of Miriam, Aaron, and Moses), Hannah (mother of Samuel),
and other moms and finishing with the birth narrative of Jesus the Christ in Luke 1 and
2, our storytellers invite us to see the stories of mothers of the Bible through a different
lens. Participation in all three weeks is not required but encouraged. Come join the fun!
